Sweet, tender mild deep golden-yellow flesh, very fine flavor, medium-sized cut leaf tops, keeps well, nice to cook for mashing, tastes more like a rutabaga than an early summer turnip, excellent for home gardens. A hardy open-pollinated biennial. Certified organic! This turnip is grown for its very tasty greens only; the woody roots are used for livestock feed. The tops are 16 to 22 inches tall and are tasty when steamed, stir fried, or used in salads. The seeds can also be used for sprouts. This is a popular Southern variety.
